We couldn't be happier with the lighting work that Oehl interiors did for us. It started with a brilliant idea to replace under the cabinet lighting in our kitchen renovation. Then we asked him to design matching fixtures for our living room a few months later. We liked those so much that when we redid our bathrooms we got his stylish fixtures, an updated take on midcentury modern design, for both bathrooms, and most recently we asked him to solve a lighting problem for our bedroom ceiling/closet which he did by creatively expanding one of his existing designs to solve our problem. All great designs, produced and installed impeccably.

We were looking for a modern cooler version of a “boob light” for our front hallway and fell in love with Oehl Interior’s wooden flush mount lights. Sterling was great to work with through customizing which wood we wanted through to free installation. It looks so good and is one of the most commented on things in our place. Would recommend!

Not to mention it’s awesome to support a local craftsman!

I'm very happy with the design and quality of all the lighting Oehl Interiors has made for my apartment. In my kitchen and bathroom, Sterling's designs have provided excellent illumination from minimalist installations. I was so happy with those that I requested a new ceiling light for the living room and wall sconces for the bedroom. Those are stylish wood fixtures that provide nice light while also being beautiful additions to both rooms.

Sterling is a perfectionist. He undertook a difficult job removing unusable lighting that was embedded in the ceiling of our living room. Additionally, he removed speakers and volume controls from a defunct sound system embedded in the ceilings and walls in a number of rooms. He designed and installed new lighting in the living room. He worked conscientiously and diligently restored our heritage home to its pristine condition. We particularly appreciate the time and trouble he took to consult throughout

Sterling's lights are truly unique in a world with overwhelmingly dull options. He takes creative approaches for custom lighting all handmade in Vancouver to eloquently match the space and create a warm feel to any home. While the prices themselves are not low, the value relative to many of his competitors is actually a bargain when you consider his process, his local materials sourcing, and the handmade nature.
The service he provides is top notch, and is always happy to walk one through his process. I strongly recommend Oehl Lighting and will definitely hire Sterling again for other custom lighting projects in the future. 10 stars.

I had the honour and pleasure of meeting Sterling, founder|designer of OEHL Lighting after seeing his work at the Vancouver IDS in Fall 2024. I was drawn to the organic tree-like design of the Branch floor lamp and Branch wall fixture with the solid smoothly finished wood and soft curved branches. So amazing to learn that Sterling designs and makes everything from his studio at the Maker Labs here in Vancouver. He kindly gave me a grand tour of his studio, patiently explaining his process - I could see and feel the craftsmanship, quality, and creativity of each piece. These are lifetime investments and I am so happy to support Sterling and be the proud owner of the Branch floor lamp.
