Our second time using Md'E -- both projects were well worth the spend. Our Downtown condo was a complete remodel, requiring a significant kitchen renno, bathroom and lighting upgrades. Notwithstanding the COVID delivery delays, they were able to get it done on time and on Budget. Our last project out in N.Burnaby took longer than expected (due to strata non-responsiveness surrounding the removal of a gas-fireplace), but they handled that as complete professionals, working with Fortis to get the strata to respond (and comply). The results were certainly impressive notwithstanding the unanticipated delay. Big thanks to Rob & the team !!!

They've been working for months in multi unit condo building for a project meant to take less than 2. They and the subtrades are highly inconsiderate and blind to the fact there are other people in this building who work from home, have pets and property belonging to others (they disconnected the outdoor irrigation system and then proceeded to use my hose to wash cement down the outside drain). The music blasted at full volume in an empty unit, never providing warning before use of the cement drilling, smelly adhesives and noisy equipment.

Hire them someplace where they can be noisy as they'd like, but these aren't the guys equipped to work in shared buildings.

Edit to address owner response: It certainly was your team working in the unit next door. How you can deny it when you don't even know the address- rich. I took photos of your vehicles. Your workers basically gave my dog PTSD. You're incredibly inconsiderate, and you deserve 1 star.

We used Maison d'Etre for a substantial renovation of our 1600 sq. ft. condo (built in 2005), which was completed in January 2020. Having prior experience with a complete single-family dwelling renovation (1997), we can say Maison d'Etre upheld consistently high standards, supervised the subcontractors effectively, and made good any issues/flaws as they came up. (There are *always* issues with any home renovation!) The staff were all personable and easy to deal with, and the subtrades employees were also acceptable. We additionally used Maison d'Etre's design services to create the initial plans and specifications, and found them helpful, too.

The project involved an extensive renovation of a 2 bedroom condo including kitchen, 2 bathrooms, flooring, lighting, etc.

The initial planning/concept development process focussed my general vision into a detailed plan. Rob Capar’s input and recommendations were on point. The process was useful to understand the scope of work involved, to determine the budget of the project and to make practical decisions.

The design team was responsive to my ideas, provided knowledgable, practical advice and recommendations, then incorporated it all into a beautiful design plan.

The construction team is top notch - professional, organized, great workmanship and attention to detail, excellent communication throughout. The Strata Supervisor was very complimentary of the Maison team’s compliance with the strata rules regarding renovations.

Overall, the entire Maison team is outstanding and the project turned out great.

Offering both the design and execution on their projects, it makes the whole work so much easier. If they need to sub contract, they are covered by workers giving the same high quality workmanship. We finished a major renewal this past spring and I’m totally happy about everything. My quality of living has been increased in so many ways thanks to their experienced team that came up with great ideas and on budget !

We utilized maison d'etre for a complete re-design of our home. This included two renovations, first in 2013 and then again in 2017. Prior to beginning work, Rob and his team met with us to discuss our vision for our home, and presented various options including a proposed budget. He was dedicated to ensuring that our vision for our home aligned with maison d'etre's plans, and that our budget goals could be met.

In 2013, the main living area was renovated, to include new kitchen, bath, updated bathrooms, entrance and doors. In 2017, they added a legal 1800 sq ft suite, converting our previous garage to living/kitchen space, updating heating and electrical, adding bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry room.

Maison d'etre recognized the importance of utilizing natural elements - adding 12 foot sliding doors to the suite to maximize natural light and allow for views of the park in front of our home. They also worked to maximizing floor and storage space. This included re-purposing previously unused space for our the homes heating system (under the stairs) to maximize square footage.

Maison d'etre checked in with us following our renovations - ensuring that all work completed met our expectations. During the warranty phase, they would often recognize touch ups to be completed that we did not notice - wanting to ensure the home looked "perfect."

I can confidently say that the maison d'etre team is dedicated to ensuring the clients goals are met. They are a friendly team - who are proud of the work they complete. Most importantly, they take the time to connect as they build positive working relationships with their clients.

After 5 years in our Vancouver condo we knew the 'rhythm' of our home and knew how we wanted to renovate it, including a full redesign that involved taking out a wall, moving the kitchen, and lots of custom millwork for several rooms. This was a full 'soup to nuts' renovation. While we had the full design / concept / layout sketched out, the collaboration with the maison d'etre team was what really brought it to life. A full 6 month project, where we moved out entirely, the project manager kept us in excellent communication and detailed involvement to ensure we aligned and that we were getting it right. Our decisions and choices for materials were not the most opulent, but they weren't the cheapest either, so we had to accept that what we'd budgeted was not what it would take to complete the vision. But the team fulfilled on the vision and we are thrilled with the result -- as we had hoped it has truly changed the way we live, and the clever ideas and nuances that the maison d'etre team brought to the table were the factors that took it over the top in terms of quality, thoughtful design and expert finishings. I must also say that their 2-year warranty program has been excellent, allowing us to calmly, easily and professionally collaborate with them on redressing deficiencies, not only upon completion, but as the renovation 'settles' over time it's resulted in excellent follow up to make small adjustments, repairs or tweaks to ensure the finished product lives up to the promise. I would use Rob and his team again in a heartbeat.

I lived in a rental for more than two decades. When the opportunity came for me to finally be able to buy a place, it was a scary and daunting prospect. But I jumped in. The bathroom totally needed a redo (and the kitchen too). But the bathroom was in serious need for an overhaul renovation and the kitchen would have to wait. Maison d'etre design-build was the only solid choice as I was familiar with their work, having looked at many before and afters on their website. My bathroom came out amazing and I could not be happier and prouder of their workmanship. It was a fantastic experience with them and I am looking forward to maybe doing the kitchen with them in the future! 😉
