Jamie spent a lot of time talking to us about how we wanted our house to look and function, inside and out. He visited the site often with and without us. Jamie communicated well with the contractor and with us and was quick to respond to questions and comments. He was incredibly user friendly and patient, able on his computer to generate our thoughts and ideas and put them in context so we could visualize the end result.
He was well versed in the up to date building codes and could keep us in check when required!

We are writing this letter to indicate our great satisfaction with the design work performed by Jamie Drolet for us.

In January of 2020 we began to design a new home in Sooke, British Columbia. We retained Mr. Drolet to design builder-ready plans for us and to also prepare 3-D renderings of the home.

Starting from a very rough scheme that we had put together and our expressed needs, Mr. Drolet drafted complete blueprints, elevations, detailed selection of components, and electrical and plumbing specifications. We found Mr. Drolet very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and an excellent guide to the construction industry on Vancouver Island. As a bonus, he is also a useful resource for ideas on where to travel and camp on the island.

Perhaps most impressive was his ability to improve almost everything he touched. He took the scheme we started with and made multiple adjustments that dramatically improved the layout and use of space, while at the same time improving the ease of construction. He took the list of kitchen cabinets and appliances that we requested along with an open space concept and made it all work symmetrically and elegantly. He provided cost effective solutions to some difficult problems.

The plans were completed within budget and on time. Builders were uniformly impressed with how detailed the plans were and how those plans made their job easier.

We would highly recommend Mr. Drolet to anyone seeking to design a home.
